Founded in 2008, the Institute of Law is an independent, not-for-profit body providing academic and professional legal education and training throughout the Channel Islands. With an emphasis on promoting knowledge and learning through first-class teaching and research, the Institute offers innovative programmes ranging from the University of London LL.B. and a double degree with the University of Toulouse to higher degrees in Jersey law and professional qualifications. It is the only body providing training for those wishing to qualify as advocates or solicitors of the Royal Court of Jersey (the Jersey Law Course) or for the Guernsey Bar.
The Institute is a leading centre for legal research and is committed to preserving the legal heritage of the Channel Islands by advancing the study and development of Jersey and Guernsey law.
As part of an expansion programme, we are now seeking to engage new talent to teach on both our undergraduate and postgraduate professional courses. Applications are invited from academics in all legal subjects and, in particular, from those who are able to contribute to teaching in the following areas:
