Overview of Jersey Lawyers

Advocates have rights of audience to represent clients in all courts in Jersey. Jersey solicitors have limited rights of audience.

Advocates and Jersey Solicitors have a right to practise Jersey law pursuant to the Advocates and Solicitors (Jersey) Law 1997, as amended (the “1997 Law”).  It is only lawyers qualified under the 1997 Law who are qualified and have a right to practise Jersey law. 

Lawyers practising foreign law in Jersey (which includes the laws of the United Kingdom) are not regulated by the Law Society of Jersey.
