The Law Officers’ Department wishes to recruit an additional Assistant Legal Adviser to work in the Civil Division, initially within the Commercial and Contentious team (salary range between Grade 7 £34,646 to Grade 11 £62,905, depending on experience and qualifications – subject to review).

Candidate:

Applicants will typically have a law degree or GDL. Possession of a professional legal qualification (English solicitor/barrister) would be a distinct advantage, as would some relevant experience obtained either in the public sector, commerce and industry or private practice.

The successful applicant will have the ability to assimilate information quickly, carry out legal research and present a point of view clearly, convincingly and persuasively through rational argument to legal advisers and the Law Officers.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively with other members of the Civil Division.
Knowledge of and an interest in the Government of Jersey would also be an advantage.

The Department welcomes applications on a full time or part time basis and actively promotes flexible working. Applications for secondments from within the Government of Jersey are particularly encouraged.
