Appointment of Lay Members

Would you like to take an active part in regulating standards in the legal profession?

The Law Society of Jersey wishes to appoint additional lay members to its Disciplinary Panel.   This was established under The Law Society of Jersey Law 2005 to consider complaints of professional misconduct against members of the legal profession.

Panel members will have high standards of integrity and objectivity and lay members will be able to demonstrate experience at a senior or executive level in the business, professional, community or voluntary sector. 

Members of the legal profession, irrespective of the jurisdiction of qualification, are not eligible to become a lay member of the Disciplinary Panel.

Applications, in the form of a Curriculum Vitae, along with an accompanying letter outlining the relevant skills and experiences that you could bring to the role, should be submitted to Neville Benbow, Chief Executive Officer, The Law Society of Jersey, PO Box 493, St Helier JE4 5SZ or emailed to ceo@jerseylawsociety.je no later than 29 April 2023.  All applications will be treated in strictest confidence.
