An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified and experienced Lawyer to join the senior management team of a small but established group of companies with ambitious plans for growth. The vacant position of Legal Director, brings with it the opportunity to join the group during the early stage of its development where they will play a pivotal and significant role in its growth and be able to build a team around them to support the planned growth and development of the group.

Responsibilities include:

  • Day to day management and control of the business including improving operation efficiency
  • In house Legal counsel providing advice and drafting Legal documents as required or outsourcing the same when appropriate
  • As a member of the board assisting with formulating business strategy
  • Working with the Chairman on new initiatives including joint venture partnerships and projects, corporate and new financing structures
  • Implementing new projects to facilitate the growth of the group in accordance with the business plan
  • Oversight of Compliance function including holding MLRO/MLCO role if and when required
  • Supporting the lending team including signing off lawyers COT and report for new loans, executing forms to release security for redemptions in addition to managing loan redemptions and defaults
  • Credit committee member

The position would suit a qualified and experienced lawyer who is commercially minded and excels in an entrepreneurial role as well as procedural legal work. The successful candidate must have proven strong leadership, communication and inter-personal skills to run the day-to-day operation and support the planned growth and development of the group.

Experience & Qualifications Required:

  • Qualified Solicitor of England and Wales
  • Strong mediation and dispute resolution skills – ideally accredited
  • Membership of an internationally recognised compliance institute
  • Registered Trust and Estate Practitioner accreditation with STEP
  • Experience of managing a property related business
