Legal Adviser Civil Division

The Law Officers’ Department wishes to recruit a Legal Adviser (LA1) to work in the Civil Division (salary range between £76,146 and £80,262). The work will often be high profile, politically sensitive and challenging. The successful applicant will have the ability to assimilate information quickly, carry out legal research and present a point of view clearly and persuasively in person and in writing. 

Candidate: An interest in/experience of employment law and practice (contentious and/or non-contentious) would be highly advantageous. Qualification as an accredited mediator would also be of interest.

Applicants will typically possess a relevant professional legal qualification and post[1]qualification experience in one or more areas of the law dealt with by the Civil Division, obtained either in the public sector, commerce and industry or private practice.

Applications may also be considered from candidates with relevant sector-specific experience with a demonstrable wish to re-qualify in law.

Knowledge of and an interest in the Government of Jersey would be advantageous. The role is also suitable as a potential secondment opportunity from within the Government of Jersey. The Department welcomes applications on a full time or part time basis and actively promotes flexible working.
