A vacancy has arisen for a part time Family Division Registrar (0.6 FTE).
The Family Division Registrar (FDR) is a judge responsible amongst other things for granting decrees of divorce, dissolution of civil partnerships, determining financial disputes between spouses or civil partners and making orders in relation to the children of a family.
The FDR is also responsible for registering overseas maintenance awards and for processing applications for adoptions which are heard before the Royal Court.
We are seeking a senior lawyer with:
- wide experience of dealing with children and family matters in a legal context;
- detailed knowledge of the applicable laws and procedures;
- mature and balanced judgment; and
- people skills required to deal with persons who are not legally represented at hearings which can be stressful and emotionally charged for the parties concerned.
