Customs & Immigration Legal and Policy Principal
The Jersey Customs & Immigration Service (JCIS) have a vacancy for an Customs & Immigration Legal and Policy Principal. This is a demanding role and the successful candidate will initially take on Immigration responsibilities, they will require excellent written and verbal communication and have the ability to analyse and interpret complex immigration legislation. The postholder will work closely with the JCIS Immigration Senior Manager providing expert advice on immigration matters and the development of local immigration legislation and policies. They will be required to keep up to date with ever changing UK Immigration legislation and determine the impact of those changes on the Island and ensure local legislation and practices are aligned, where appropriate, in order to maintain the integrity of the Islands position within the Common Travel Area. The successful candidate will work closely with the Law Officers' Department, the UK Home Office and colleagues across the Common Travel Area jurisdictions to achieve this. In addition, the post holder will be expected to provide expert immigration advice across all areas of JCIS. This is a 2 year fixed term contract.
