Who We Seek

Our merit-based culture suits professionals in pursuit of boundless careers and lives.  Beyond their acumen, team members are collaborative and conscientious, bringing a healthy sense of drive and purpose to each interaction and to all aspects of their work.

About the Role

The role represents an excellent opportunity to join our Jersey office and to make a significant contribution to our dynamic and growing practice. Opened in 2018, Maples and Calder provides premium quality Jersey legal advice to the corporate, finance, investment fund sectors and, through Maples Fiduciary Services (Jersey) Limited, the Maples Group offers complementary entity formation and corporate/administration service solutions. There is an exciting, diverse and healthy mix of opportunities generated by the local team and referrals through our global colleagues, with a focus on prestigious cross-border mandates for blue-chip and institutional-level clients.

The successful candidate will have exposure to some of the best offshore legal work in the market and will work as part of, and be supported by, a highly successful, entrepreneurial and collegiate team.

Key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Advising blue-chip clients on a wide range of matters, with a particular focus on providing legal advice on formation, ongoing legal and regulatory compliance, restructuring and termination of different types of investment vehicles and other entity types
  • Working with a client base that focuses on international investment managers and sponsors and with onshore law firms in major financial centres
  • Engaging in business development activities, being active in the promotion of the firm and seeking opportunities for new work and cross-selling
  • Working as part of a team and in daily interaction with the partners and taking an active part in sharing knowledge and experience by managing junior lawyers
  • Participating in global and local CSR projects and initiatives

Our Jersey office comprises a strong mix of newly qualified, mid-level and highly experienced lawyers and partners. The successful candidate would be joining a team of five Partners, two Of Counsel and six associates and will have the opportunity to work collaboratively on various matters across the team.
