Associate - Funds

Ogier wishes to recruit a talented associate in its fund team

Key Responsibilities

Our Jersey office recently won accolade at the Citywealth IFC Awards 2019 in the Jersey Law Firm of the Year category and our Funds teams are key examples, recognised as market leaders, providing advice from our core offices around the globe.  With a team of industry recognised professionals, we are attracting new talent regularly as our expertise and market-leading strategy is acknowledged.

You will be expected to provide technically sound legal advice directly to clients with appropriate supervision from more senior fee earners and to take ownership of simple transactions from end to end.  You will also be responsible for managing your own financial responsibilities including time recording, billing, WIP and debt, ensuring clients are fully informed as to the fees and disbursements that will be incurred on each matter and provide updates as required, engaging appropriate cash collection procedures to ensure fees are collected in a timely manner.

At Associate level you will also begin to provide input to partners and begin to develop negotiating skills in the preparation of new matter fee estimates and quotes. Staying up to date with new legislation and topics of interest in the relevant markets and how these changes affect clients and matters is also key.

Other responsibilities include assisting with the orientation of new joiners, bursary students and summer interns and developing strong relationships with immediate team members.

We want individuals who are open to change as you will also have the opportunity to trial new ways of working and lead on the implementation of continuous improvement for the benefit of the team and firm overall.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

We are ideally looking for an talented lawyer who is new qualified or with up to 4 years' PQE, to join our team. We are looking for individuals who are technically strong, with excellent academics and drive/motivation to develop and progress. Preferably, you will have had previous exposure to funds works or have undertaken a training seat within a funds team.

If that's you, then reach out to us by applying here.
